"Brook Trout Heaven" is a collection of short stories about my fishing adventures on Lake Nipigon and the famed Nipigon River. The photos (including underwater) show the beauty and magnificence of this legendary fish in a pristine environment. A filmmaker from British Columbia has used Nipigon, Ontario’s world record brook trout as the back story for a new feature film. Travis Lowe’s movie Finding Fontinalis will be shown in Thunder Bay in February at the second annual Fly Fishing Film Tour.. Lowe says most of the film was shot in Argentina, with stops in Chile, Florida, Oregon, Montana and British Columbia.

The Nipigon River is also the place which holds the world record for Brook Trout caught in ( years). This is the longest standing world fishing record on the books. To this day, with stringent size and possession limits the fishing is top notch with many fish over 6 lbs. and a few over 10lbs every year. NIPIGON RIVER Back when Dr. Cook caught the world record, the Nipigon River was free running the entire 30 miles from Lake Nipigon to Lake Superior. These days a series of three hydroelectric dams create impoundments that offer fishing for not only brook trout, but other native species like whitefish and lake trout.

From salmon on the great lake to giant lake trout on Lake Nipigon to world record brook trout in the Nipigon River, Nipigon is an angler’s paradise. There is something to catch in any season. The Nipigon River is also the place which holds the world record for Brook Trout caught in ( years). A filmmaker from British Columbia has used Nipigon, Ontario's world record brook trout as the back story for a new feature film. Travis Lowe's movie "Finding Fontinalis" will be shown in Thunder.
